The Community Strategy Hackathon is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for community builders and leaders to give back by creating real, actionable community strategies for UK-based non-profits.

Many non-profits rely on community-driven programs to engage volunteers, activate advocates, and create lasting impact—but they often lack the structure and strategy to bring these initiatives to life. This is where you come in.

What You’ll Build

During the Community Strategy Hackathon, you and your team will design and develop a full-scale community strategy based on a real-world non-profit need. These programs could include:

Champions & Advocacy Programs

Empowering members to lead and engage others

Local Chapters & Regional Groups

Structuring sustainable, location-based communities

Content Calendar & Programming

Crafting a year-long engagement plan

Feedback & Survey Processes

Helping non-profits understand and serve their communities better

Volunteer & Ambassador

Strategies to recruit, retain, and recognize volunteers

Support & Peer-to-Peer Networks

Designing frameworks for knowledge-sharing and mentorship

User-Generated Content Initiatives

Harnessing community contributions for storytelling and education

Fundraising & Awareness Campaigns

Leveraging community to drive impact

Onboarding & Engagement

Designing a structured journey to welcome, educate, and retain community members

How it Works

We have partnered with local UK non-profits to gather their specific community needs ahead of time. Each non-profit will submit a detailed brief, outlining the challenges they face and the type of community program they need.

  • Step 1: Team Assignments & Brief Distribution

    On the day of the hackathon, participating teams will receive real non-profit challenges and will work to create a structured, actionable strategy to address their needs.

  • Step 2: Strategy Development

    Teams will collaborate, research, and structure their strategies in a hands-on working session. Mentors and industry experts will be available to provide guidance and feedback.

  • Step 3: Jury Review & Presentation

    A jury of four community professionals will review all strategies, evaluating creativity, feasibility, and impact. Each team will present their final community strategy to the jury.

  • Step 4: Awards & Recognition

    During Day 2 of the Community-led World Conference, we will host a rewards ceremony to celebrate all participants, with prizes and special mentions for the most impactful strategies.
